Recycle, Reuse. Your coffee will arrive in a reusable aluminum can equipped with a high-tech barrier and a resealable plastic lid. Our packaging guarantees a "just roasted" flavor for 6 months, and it enables reuse & recycle.

Did you know...aluminum is the most abundant metal on earth? A used aluminum can is recycled and back in use in as little as 60 days! Making new aluminum cans from used cans takes 95% less energy and 20 recycled cans can be made with the energy needed to produce one can using virgin ore. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning for almost four hours. Visit www.earth911.org and learn!

We purchase at the height of harvest which means, depending on the growing season, a specific coffee may   not be available.
If what you are looking for is not currently available, don’t be discouraged, it’s just one added reassurance that our coffee is as fresh as it can be.

      Indonesia: Indonesia's 17,508 islands, about 6,000
of which are inhabited, are scattered over both sides of the
equator.
By land area, the five largest islands are
Java, Sumatra,  Kalimantan,

New Guinea (shared with Papua New Guinea) and Sulawesi.
        With at least
150 active volcanos, the ash is a major contributor to the
high agricultural fertility. Indonesian coffee is widely considered to be
the most organic coffee on earth.  Sumatra  grows some of the world's
        richest Arabica coffee.

  • Sumatra, "Gayo People" Aceh; Organic, shade grown Fair Trade.
Sumatran coffee is known for its full body and richness. Aceh is the area in Sumatra where this coffee comes from and Takengon is the village wehre the coffee is milled. This coffee is specially milled for Vermont Artisan following a different process than the one used for Mandehling coffees.in general. Our process highlights the syrupy heavy body and earthy tones of this coffee.

  • Sumatra, Dark Roast; Organic shade grown Fair Trade.
For those who crave an organic dark roast...we've taken our ever so popular "Gayo" and roasted it to a darker level. Rich, full bodied, earthy and syrupy.

  • Sumatra, Decaffeinated, We love Sumatra for it's full body so naturally we choose it for our signature decaf. All the full flavor that Sumatra coffees offer and naturally decafeinated.

  • Moka Java, Organic Fair Trade.
Born out of a 17th century blunder,a clipper ship transporting coffees from the Yemen port of Mocha and the Indonesian island of Java, inadvertently mixed them. Thus, the first ever reported blend, Moka Java was born!  Not a chocolate flavored coffee...Earthy, sweet and wild.

  • ForesTrade Vienna Roast, Sumatra
Organic Fair Trade. Roasted and packaged directly for ForesTrade. This roast utilizes ForesTrade's Sumatra beans, cultivated by the PPKGO (a partnership of indigenous farmers and ForesTrade) in the diverse shade ecosystem of Takengon’s Gayo Highlands in Central Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia. The PPKGO believe in producing a high quality coffee that embraces Fair Trade practices and organic, sustainable agriculture from the ground up, the result of their efforts being one of the most sought after coffees in the world. Indonesian Coffee

"For four consecutive years, I visited Sumatra where I worked with a small village and asked them to produce a coffee just for me. What distinguishes this "Gayo Aceh" coffee is still an earthy, syrupy taste but much cleaner than usual. We offer them a prize for reaching quality goals as well ~We're proud to say, this year the village earned an extra $500."
