Indonesian Coffee
Indonesia’s 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited, are scattered over both sides of the equator. By land area, the five largest islands are Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, New Guinea (shared with Papua New Guinea) and Sulawesi. With at least 150 active volcanoes, the ash is a major contributor to the high agricultural fertility. Indonesian coffee is widely considered to be the most organic coffee on earth. Sumatra grows some of the world’s richest Arabica coffee.
