Indonesian Coffee

Indonesia’s 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited, are scattered over both sides of the equator. By land area, the five largest islands are Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, New Guinea (shared with Papua New Guinea) and Sulawesi. With at least 150 active volcanoes, the ash is a major contributor to the high agricultural fertility. Indonesian coffee is widely considered to be the most organic coffee on earth. Sumatra grows some of the world’s richest Arabica coffee.

Aceh is the area in Sumatra where this coffee comes from and Takengon is the village where the coffee is processed. This coffee is specially milled for Vermont Artisan following a different process than the one used for most Mandehling coffees. Our process highlights the syrupy heavy body and earthy tones of this coffee.

We love Sumatran coffee for it's full body, so naturally we chose this for our signature decaf. It carries all of the full flavor that Sumatran coffees offer and is naturally decaffeinated. You get all of that bold coffee taste without the caffeine.
